The value of hard work and vision, two attributes crucial to the success of starting a business, are what Michael Arthur credits his father and grandfather with instilling in him. Now the highly successful owner of the Michael Arthur jewelry company, he looked back at what has brought him to the point he is today. “My work ethic and inspiration have come from my grandfather and father. They have both been an influential part of my growth in business. I have always been competitive in the sporting realm, and this has transferred over into business. My Father had always pushed me to be the best at what I invest my energy in” Michael revealed as he spoke about the inspirations for his work.
The Michael Arthur Diamonds company has risen to prominence after being started by Michael eight years ago, following his jewelry apprenticeship in Sydney, Australia, and working for other jewelers. He began the business on his own with the main goal to create one on one connections with clients. Michael also touched on some of the challenges he has faced building a company from the ground up despite the traits grounded by his family. He readily explains, “Building a business from $0 to a company that is turning over $7 million within 8 years, with no funding has been the biggest struggle. Managing customers, cash flow, stock, and employees has been rewarding but also the biggest hurdle to overcome.”
Now, Michael and his company ship to over 50 countries and have truly made their name in close customer relationships. The APAC business awards named Michael Arthur 2021’s most innovative jeweler of the year and wrote about him saying, “[Michael Arthur] is one of the few companies in the country that can offer such a bespoke service with the same level of professionalism, integrity, and expertise. Throughout this process, staff members stay in close contact with the client with updates and images to keep them wholly involved and up to date with the development of their custom creation.” They will be looking to build on this momentum as 2022 ramps up and more opportunities for growth and advancement present themselves.
