Charles Goodger – A Pioneer of the Entertainment Industry

The significance of a profession and its associated personnel cannot be undervalued and holds its position in the community. No matter how much the entertainment industry is discouraged, no one can deny the perks it has brought forth in society. Daily advancements have led to induced stress and mental health disorders in the community to overcome the effects of anxiety, people often find peace by engaging themself in the masterpieces produced by the entertainment industry. Music, one of the fundamental units of the entertainment industry, has aided the community itself in many ways. Music is known well to improve one’s mood, decrease pain and anxiety, and encourage an individual to express their inner self. Research shows that music is beneficial in gratifying our physical and mental health in numerous ways. Music therapy is used by hospice and palliative care board-certified music therapists to enhance conventional treatment for a variety of illnesses and disease processes – from anxiety, depression, and stress to the management of pain and enhancement of functioning after degenerative neurologic disorders. Apart from reducing stress and depression symptoms, music has also been seen to relieve symptoms of dementia.

Many studies have shown that playing music helps blood flow more easily. It can also reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, decrease cortisol (stress hormone) levels and increase serotonin and endorphin levels in the blood. Besides all these factors, one can simply not neglect the motivation music creates during workouts and exercise. The benefits the musical industry has provided to society can never be underestimated, and special appreciation should be given to composers and teachers like Charles Goodger, who have contributed a lot of their precious time to crafting musical pieces loved by adults and children alike.

England-based composer and founder of The FunSongs method, Charles Goodger, was born in London on 10^th January 1955 but resides in Italy for now. Goodger’s company, FunSongs Education, was nominated for an ELTons Award for innovation and excellence in ELT in 2011 by the British Council and Cambridge English.

Apart from composing music, Goodger has also been featured in  several motion pictures. In 2019, he performed a cameo role as an English-speaking tourist in the third episode of the first season of Summertime, produced by Cattleya Rome for Netflix. He interpreted the part of the caretaker David in the 2020 independent horror film Clara by Francesco Longo. Subsequently, in 2021 Charles Goodger was awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the Bombay-based Accord Cine Fest organization as Best Actor in the independent film Clara.  In the same year, he was also voted the Best Supporting Actor in a Feature Film by the Fantastic Film Festival in San Diego, CA, USA.

Goodger graduated in 1977 from Queen Mary College, London University, in Modern Languages and Literature (Spanish and French). Other than that, he has also obtained a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate from the Royal Society of Arts. Additionally, he has completed an RCM Music diploma (piano). In 1985, he left London and has since relocated various times to Latvia and Israel, and currently lives in Italy with his Italian wife, Maria Teresa Brintazzoli, and their son Samuel.

Apart from being an actor and music composer, Goodger’s diverse skills have encouraged him to author publications as well. His first publication was Trade and Business International in 1991, while others include The Language of Travel in 1993, Trade in Action in 1994 Trade Routes in 1998.  

While authoring these books, Goodger also established a venture, The FunSongs Education Ltd., a Windsor-based organization, in 1996. It entertains individuals of all ages, nourishing them with a good command of English original action songs. The aim of this academy is solely to indulge all students in a safe space where they can establish a good connection and express themselves. This not only gives them a good command of language but also facilitates an individual to embrace their inner potential and identify their skills, polishing them further.
