So our favorite teenage superhero, Miles Morales, finally made his way back to the big screen this year. We finally got the long-awaited sequel to the hit movie Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse. This one was called Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse and it was everything that we were waiting for. Now that the movie has been released digitally all over the world, you can finally watch it online! All you need is a fast internet connection that would stream the movie without any interruptions, so we would suggest going for Spectrum Internet because of its sublime internet service!
Coming back to Spider-Man, we finally got to see a continuity in Miles’ story and we just have to say that Across the Spider-Verse really outdid itself as compared to its prequel. Here are some of the things that we think really made the movie stand out:
- A Very Menacing Kind of Villain
The movie introduced us to Spot, who is the main villain throughout the movie. While all of us (including Miles himself) took Spot as a joke in the first quarter of the movie, he actually turns out to be quite a menacing kind of villain by the end of the movie. He has an amazing kind of character development and he actually instills a sense of fear in you as the movie is nearing the end.
At first, it is pretty easy for Miles to fight Spot since Spot himself is learning how to harness his own powers. As Spot becomes more aware of his powers, he grows even more dangerous and starts threatening the multiverse. That is where Miles needs to figure out what he needs to do about him.
- Miles’ Struggles Between a Normal and Superhero Life
Miles has a pretty tough time trying to find a balance between his normal life and his superhero life. He has been neglecting his parents a lot and the movie shows how he is having a strain on his relationship with his parents. There’s also emphasis on how his grades are slightly being affected but he also needs to be Spider-Man so that he could save his city from threats.
The movie really put an emphasis on how everyone needs to be on good terms with their parents and how parents should come before anyone else.
- The Power of Webs and Friendship
Another beautiful element of the movie was how it showcased the friendship between Gwen and Miles. The previous movie pointed out how Gwen “didn’t do friends anymore” but she breaks that rule when she meets Miles and actually becomes friends with him. Miles and Gwen both think of each other and miss each other until they finally get the chance to meet one another.
We also get the chance to see Peter’s other friends such as Peter B. Parker and so on. While the whole movie focuses on the “right thing to do”, it also lays its focus on how you should always have your friends’ back no matter what. The movie ends on that note as well and we can’t help but wait for the next part of the movie.
- The Pivotal Role of Spider-Man 2099
We finally get to see more of Spider-Man 2099! This part made sure to introduce Miguel O’Hara to the audience, who is better known as Spider-Man 2099. Miguel is responsible for making sure that the Spider-Verse remains intact and that all canon events take place well in time so that the story of Spider-Man in every universe can continue flawlessly.
However, according to Miguel, Miles somehow manages to rip a hole in the multiverse every time and Miguel has to fix it. He sets up his own Spider Society that would make sure that everything goes smoothly in the Spider-Verse. There comes a point when Miles and Miguel might come at an impasse but they do figure something out eventually.
- The Amazing Animation Style
You probably remember how cool Into the Spider-Verse was in terms of the animation style. You would be surprised to know that Across the Spider-Verse did an even better job with it. The animation was a lot more smooth and the colors were more vivid. You would be surprised to know that the whole chase sequence in the movie took around 4 years to make, which shows just how dedicated the team was!
Wrapping Up
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse was most certainly a treat for all Spider-Man fans all over the world. Now we just can’t wait until Beyond the Spider-Verse is released so we could see what Miles has in store for him next!
