What if women ruled the world? Anna Fishbeyn takes that idea and runs with it in Galaxy 360: A Woman’s Playground, a bold, hilarious sci-fi satire where women hold the power and men strut their stuff in beauty pageants. Think Barbie After Dark meets Rocky Horror Picture Show, with a sharp twist that flips gender dynamics on its head.
But this isn’t just a film, it’s a movement. Fishbeyn, an acclaimed filmmaker and creator, is rewriting the rules, offering a futuristic world where men finally experience the pressures women have faced for centuries.
And audiences can’t get enough. Newstrail calls it “The #1 Funniest Movie Right Now,” FilmDaily says it’s “Revolutionizing Gender Roles,” and New York Weekly dubs it “A Cult Classic in the Making.” If you love the campy fun of Rocky Horror and the sci-fi brilliance of Barbarella, this one’s for you.
Beyond the spectacle, Galaxy 360 holds up a mirror to society with sharp satire. In this world, men are judged on their looks, charm, and ability to please those in power. Beauty pageants, obsessive grooming, and relentless scrutiny define their reality, just as they have for women for generations. It is a role reversal that is as thought-provoking as it is hilarious.
So, how did this groundbreaking film come to life? What inspired Fishbeyn to flip traditional gender roles? And what’s next for this feminist sci-fi phenomenon?
How Motherhood Sparked a Gender-Bending Revolution
Fishbeyn didn’t wake up one morning and suddenly decide to create Galaxy 360. The idea took shape over years, shaped by life, love, and countless observations of society.
“I have been creating gender-reversal art since I got married and had children,” she explains. “I found the state of motherhood to be the most invisible period of my life. No one noticed me, cared for my well-being, or asked how my brain was doing.”
She recalls a moment in a New York City playground, where she first noticed how starkly different men and women identified themselves.
“When everyone spoke to the men, they asked them what they did. The men said, ‘I’m a lawyer,’ or ‘doctor,’ or ‘artist,’ or ‘finance bro.’ But when they asked the mothers, they invariably said, ‘I’m a working mom’ or a stay-at-home mom.”
This moment planted the seed for what would eventually become Galaxy 360. “I remember thinking how fun would it be to have a show or film, where we had dads – working dads and stay-at-home dads, where men felt the same responsibility for their children as we do and identified themselves as such.”
The result? A world where men are judged by their looks, charm, and ability to cater to women’s desires.
From Idea to Reality: Five Years in the Making
Transforming this concept into a film wasn’t a simple task. In fact, Galaxy 360 took five years to complete, thanks to its extensive special effects, world-building, and evolving social commentary.
“I have been in post production on the film for the last five years,” Fishbeyn shares. “The main concept/idea has stayed the same but with each year, with more products being aimed at women’s looks – with more work involved in staying beautiful and young, I kept coming up with new commercials for men that would keep men looking fit, young, and hot.”
And that’s exactly what you’ll see in the film: men obsessing over their appearance, competing in beauty pageants, and learning how it really feels to live under a microscope.
Barbie, But Make It Raunchy!
Fishbeyn has described Galaxy 360 as “Barbie – After Dark, with a sexy twist.” So, does that mean it’s for fans of Greta Gerwig’s pink-powered blockbuster?
“I think both for sure,” she says. “My film is quite different in that—I take that speech about all the pressures placed on women—and simply place them on the heads and bodies of men and let them deal with it.”
The result? A comedy that’s equal parts raucous and revolutionary.
“Galaxy 360 is a bit more racey and raunchy than Barbie,” she admits. “The women in my film are unapologetically sexy and desire men openly, so in that respect, I do believe there will also be a cult fan favorite in the same way the Rocky Horror Picture Show was sexually unapologetic and campy.”
So, if you’re ready for a film where women are powerful, sexy, and totally in control, this is definitely the one for you!
