The idea of no longer needing to work for money to live on is incredibly enticing as it brings a lot of freedom. It is also something that most of us wish to achieve. However, getting to it is not easy. The path to financial independence is not all glamorous, and there are numerous challenges, from the high cost of living to the fear of failure. Having walked this path, Sebastian Guerra now shares his incredible journey with us and how he overcame all these obstacles to attain financial independence.
Sebastian is an investment advisory representative and the managing partner and president of Guerra Financial Group, a financial planning firm dedicated to helping the public take charge of their finances and get to the point where work becomes an option rather than an obligation. Sebastian is also a celebrated author, speaker, and successful entrepreneur. He has authored top-selling books such as The Retirement Ready Story and Be Retirement Ready: Work Because You Want To, Not Because You Have To.
Sebastian has hosted over 500 speaking engagements on retirement, income planning, and estate planning, among other financial topics. He says his goal is to help more people become aware of their financial standing and the steps they need to take to reach their ultimate goal of financial independence. As he does so, he also shares the lessons he has learned in his journey.
Sebastian’s desire to attain financial freedom and live a life where he works not because he needs to but because he loves his work started long ago. His father owned the business, and it was through helping him oversee some of the activities that Sebastian developed a passion for finance and even identified a problem with how the company was run.
Sebastian explains that they had two employees and the company’s profits were barely enough to cover the bills. In his words, “They would make a dollar and spend a dollar.”
This experience drove Sebastian to dive deeper into investment planning and taught him the power of delayed gratification. He is now sharing this concept with others, especially the younger generation, as he teaches entrepreneurs the importance of saving.
Sebastian explains that one of the reasons many people fail to achieve their goal of financial independence is setting unrealistic goals and overspending. There is a lot of FOMO (fear of missing out) among young people, and instead of taking time to plan their finances, many are driven by social media hype and end up spending beyond their budgets.
Sebastian and his team are working to change this mindset as they share financial tips to help this generation grow their passive income. As a believer that it is not about how much you make but how much you keep, Sebastian is using this motto to make a difference and assist people in making better investment decisions. As Sebastian continues to build his empire, he is changing lives and helping people become more aware of their finances. Through his journey, he equally shows other entrepreneurs that it is possible to attain financial independence and work not because it is an obligation but because you love to.
