Artist and songwriter Jones has been on fire since his “Rush” single debuted at number 33 on the itunes R&B charts earlier this year. Not only has this milestone led to him being booked regularly for performances in the greater Mississippi area, but it has also garnered him the respect and honor of his local peers and dignitaries in the state. As a result, Jones has joined the ranks of some of the most influential people to ever come out of Mississippi being recognized by the Mississippi House of Representatives. As the Magnolia state is Jones’ birthplace he is reveling in all of the support and love he is getting as he continues to propel his career to new heights.
The state of Mississippi recently passed House Bill HR 139, acknowledging Mississippi as the home and birthplace of the southern soul music genre. This legislation includes many influential artists and musicians that have poured into the genre in a positive and uplifting way. One of the talents mentioned in this bill is none other than Jones. Some of the language includes “WHEREAS, each artist, in their unique way, has passionately contributed their voices to the Southern Soul genre, showcasing their talents and sharing their musical gifts with every performance and platform offered to them.” This by far is the biggest accolade he has received in his professional career.
This honor could not come at a better time as Jones is riding out the success of his most recent single “Self Destruct”. Backed by sultry vocals and stellar songwriting this single further proves that he is an artist on the rise, destined for greatness.
