Daral Southall, better known as, Thanoz, is a talented artist from Harlem, New York. Thanoz started as a videographer and musician in New York and has now edited and directed videos for many artists in the industry, including “IDK” and “M!NT.” He was heavily influenced by his father to make his start in the industry. Thanoz’s father was friends with hip-hop pioneers such as DJ Steve Dee, DJ Barry Bee from the Get Fresh Crew, Doug E Fresh, and DJ Dummy. He slowly took lessons from these hip hop greats and his father that helped him craft his sound and rhythm. Thanoz has not always had it easy. In 2015 he was found in a staircase in a coma and took a long time to recover. He never gave up on himself through even this tragedy, and he brings this fight into his music. He has also had significant achievements in his career, the most considerable being working with IDK on his video “Trigger Happy.”
Thanoz takes inspiration from many places, such as Tyler The Creator, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West. These artists have helped Thanoz find his sound and create something of his own. Thanoz is set to release his new project titled “Anonymous 2” by the end of this year. This project focuses on being an artist and people who live through a phone or computer screen. He speaks from people’s perspectives on the internet and gives his own experiences on both sides of the spectrum. The red or blue pill inspired this project in The Matrix.
