Tommy Carlucci is a DJ and Drummer that has always been surrounded by music. The Connecticut native’s family introduced him several genres ranging from R&B/Soul, Classic Rock, Hip Hop, and even funk. Tommy’s father is also a seasoned DJ with 15 years of experience in the craft making the craft that much more natural for the disc jockey to pick up and master himself.
“I remember going to parties with him (my Dad), sitting in the DJ booth, and watching him run a crowd and run the room. I was hooked”.
Taking inspiration from fellow DJs like DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Beatbreaker, DJ Riz, and more, Tommy has a varied influence that will continue to propel his career forward.
Even though the music is truly in Tommy’s DNA, the open-format DJ still had obstacles to overcome in order to get where he is today. “(I was) constantly networking, making mixes, sleepless nights, studying percussion in college along with music theory…”.
Even after all of the challenges, Tommy’s mental remains rock solid. “Regardless, always treat people fairly, stay grounded, humble, and let the work speak for itself.”
It is no doubt that his mindset and work ethic are both behind his success as both a drummer and DJ. Tommy has been able to play on the national stage as a drummer for Tori Kelly during the Tree Lighting special, Christmas in Rockefeller Center, which in recent years, has had viewership upwards of 8 million people (according to Deadline.com). Tommy has also been a featured DJ on New York’s hottest Hip-Hop station, Hot 97.
The future is clearly bright and full of possibilities for Tommy. You can check out his DJ Mixes on Mixcloud and follow his journey on his Instagram and Spotify. This is certainly a DJ that listeners will want to stay tapped in with.
