Known as Johnny Franchino, John Helm is a hip hop artist from Racine, Wisconsin. At the age of 5, he started singing with the encouragement of J-Fre and Tizzleman. His first rap verse was written on a cassette tape when he was 13 years old, articulating his environment over an instrumental. The passion he felt then eventually became his life’s work.
Having developed his sound through working with numerous artists/producers, Johnny Franchino started showcasing who he was as an artist at many local Open Mic nights, landing himself some gigs. During his time in the rock band “The New Grey,” Franchino became lead singer. He gave “The New Grey” a new flavor (or “cologne” as he likes to call it) by articulating his lyrics in a style that captivated his listeners/viewers, creating the vibe the band now provides to its fans on a daily basis. Chino took to social media to build on the momentum he was experiencing.
Johnny Franchino always advocated for mental health. Every morning, he brought his energy and good spirits to Instagram, and gradually gained a following that looked forward to his posts. Through his music and influence, Chino aims to better himself as a human, as well as inspire others to do the same. When interviewed, he said, “Life is a marathon!” As long as you keep pace, the goal of reaching the finish line is attainable. When there is “cologne” there is a way! Make the fragrance that you exude to the universe impactful!”
There are several projects coming to fruition for Johnny Franchino. As a solo artist, he is currently working on a series entitled “Aesthetix” with the goal of forever changing how society views music. Additionally, he is working on a new project with his band “The New Grey” that should be released later this year or early next year. One day, Chino hopes to work with Pharrell Williams. Together, he and Pharrell have the creativity to create something great!
