Former Marine Turned Musician Shurland Ayers Is Paving His Own Path In The Music Industry

We all have a background or experience we have gone through in our lives to make us unique and separate us from the pack. For Shurland Ayers, one unique aspect of his life path is his time spent in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Marines full time for four years and said that he took away many life lessons from experience.

After his time in the Marines, Shurland did his undergraduate study in Tokyo, Japan, at Temple University Japan Studies. He double-majored in Communications Studies and International Business with a minor in Art. While studying in Tokyo, Ayers worked at Fox International Channels as a Producer, where he would interview various artists that came into the studio. Some of the biggest names in the music industry he had the chance to interview were Big Sean, Estelle, Nas, Ed Sheeran, and Talib Kweli. He also had the opportunity to participate in tours for artists like Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, the ASAP Mod, and a handful of others when they would be performing in Asia.

Shurland used his time in the Marines and in Tokyo to build upon his love for music and make connections along the way. The life lessons he learned while serving and his experience while working at FOX are second to none and carry Shurland in his everyday pursuits. This fresh to the scene artist has had anything but an ordinary journey, but as far as he’s concerned, the fun is just getting started.
