FortuneFam originally went by T Roberts back in 2008 when he started working at his rap career. He put together a few songs and CDs. At this time, Fortune was plugged in with SPC and Point Blank. Point Blank would later release one of his hit songs, “Mind Goes Blank” with DJ Screw & SUC. Point Blank used to come to rapper T Roberts’ house to pick him up and take him around Houston and to surrounding cities such as Victoria and San Antonio to sell CDs with him out the trunk of Point Blank’s car.
In 2009, FortuneFam dropped All Bite No Bark, a mixtape that he recorded at Mike Moe, brother of Corey Moe’s, studio in Acres Home. The mixtape was hosted by Houston legends, Wicked Cricket and Kiati. Not too long after, Fortune found himself linking up with artists like Beat King. Beat King was featured on one of several of Fortune’s which was recorded at Beat King’s mama’s house at that time. These songs have yet to be released.
Fortune continued to work on his music from 2010 to 2012. He completed two more albums that were never released. They were forever lost when Houston DEA kicked in the door of his apartment on a drug raid in 2012.
After catching a case, he temporarily slowed down in efforts to further his rap career to get through court processes and probation. In 2015, FortuneFam linked up with ARed from ARed Studios to begin recording his mixtape, Will of Fortune, under his new alias, FortuneFam. The album was hosted by DJ Hollygrove of the ChopStars. Some of the songs in his album include well known artists such as Rizzo Rizzo of Houston’s own TSF, Dice Soho of Icy Life Entertainment with some production by Fred On Em of The Wave Mechanics, who produced tracks like, Cheddar da Connect’s, Flick of the Wrist and Trill Sammy and Dice Soho’s song, Just Watch.
Fortune released Will of Fortune in 2017 which created buzz and did well locally and on streaming sites. Since then, FortuneFam has created many songs but has only released a handful of them as singles on SoundCloud. He’s currently working on a new album, Fortune 500, which is scheduled to drop in Summer of 2020. He will also soon be releasing a new single with BFBDaPacman called, “Force Be With You”.
