Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Kenny Brooks shares an inspiring story from grass to grace. He was raised in a struggling family with limited access to some of the fine things in life. His early childhood was a series of hardships, but that taught him how to hustle and grind from an early age. Kenny started working at 11, selling newspapers door-to-door. He had to work to support his mother and also buy himself the small things he wanted. Being exposed to entrepreneurial work at a young age infused him with a relentless determination for success, and since then, he has never looked back.
Over the years, Kenny has discovered his purpose and path to success. He is not only a talented artist but a one-of-a-kind comedy rapper. His hard work and determination to be the best in everything he does have helped him overcome the various hurdles thrown in his path. Kenny says that his biggest challenge was not giving up and staying motivated.
“My biggest challenge was not giving up after I had been kidnapped by Indians (Native Americans) when I was doing door-to-door sales. They pulled guns and knives on me. This happed one day in Hemet, California, where I approached an Indian Reservation in a neighborhood I was working in before,” Kenny explains.
The entire ordeal ended up in court, something Kenny had never envisioned for his life. To him, this was a one-of-a-kind experience and one that left him a depressed and dysfunctional individual.
“I didn’t know how to express the anger and fear I faced, so I wrote a comedic song about the whole experience. Through music, I was able to share my story and make people laugh at the same time. I’m like the black L’il Dicky, but funnier!” Kenny adds.
Since making his debut on the music scene, Kenny is undoubtedly leaving a mark, setting up the pace for other generations. One of his notable achievements includes appearing in season 16 of Nick Cannon’s wildly popular, Wild N Out. He also has an award named after him, the “Be Like Kenny” award, for UFC fighters. The awards are inspired by Kenny’s works, particularly his first viral video that clocked over 300 million views. To the founders, the “Be Like Kenny” award is an appreciation of the rapper’s hard work, determination, undying spirit, and never giving up.
Kenny’s innate talent has attracted the interest of other A-list rappers. He has written numerous songs for various rappers and has been featured in music videos. Incredibly, almost every artist he has worked with praises him for his unquestionable work ethic and unmatched talent.
Rated among the top Vevo MTV artists, Kenny is now working toward becoming the biggest rapper in the world. He also wants to release more great music and become a top billboard artist. A multi-talented individual, Kenny is also working on making his acting debut, now that he has already appeared in a couple of movies.
