Interview With Rising Artist Chaitha

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California.

How did you get into music?

My start as an artist began in my bedroom during the covid pandemic and the boredom felt from quarantine pushed me to start recording covers of popular songs in my car and uploading them to Instagram and YouTube. I never would have imagined that it would start to flood me with such a positive reaction because I started it just as something fun to pass the time during quarantine but the more I did it, the more I fell in love with it. After a couple dozen covers, I finally released my first song on all platforms on July 10th, 2020. Since then I’ve released singles up until my recent debut EP “Bittersweet Boulevard”.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

I am most proud of the messages I receive from people telling me that my music has touched their souls and hearts because that is why I create music. Past all the numbers and accolades, the goal of my music is to evoke feelings and emotions that people can relate to.

How is the reality of being an independent artist compared to your expectations?

My experience of being an independent artist has been amazing because I have so much creative control over my process and journey. I love the freedom that music allows and the reach that it can have into the hearts of so many.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Three words I would use to describe my music are love, bliss, and euphoria.

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on to date?

My favorite project I’ve worked on to date is my most recent EP “Bittersweet Boulevard” because it’s about the ups and downs of my relationship and I allowed myself to be more vulnerable than ever before on this project. Through this project, I take you down the bumpy road of love through the tracklist of “Scars”, “Nauseous”, “Made for Me” and “Erase”. After finishing this 4 track EP and finally releasing it, I felt for the first time that I had finally found my sound.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

When people hear my music, I hope it evokes emotions inside of them that they can resonate to.

Who inspires you the most musically?

My biggest musical inspirations are Bryson Tiller, The Weeknd, and Billi Ellish.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

One artist I would love to work with is Bryson Tiller.

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

I have a new single “Time With You” releasing on May 13th.
