Jagjaguwar Announces Year-Long 25th Anniversary Celebration With New Track from Bon Iver and Ross Gay
“Friends, will you bear with me today.” The opening line from the new Bon Iver-accompanied Ross Gay poetry track shares a call to arms for hope of a progressive future. “Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude” is the lead single from the new spoken word project by Ross Gay, the New York Times best-selling poetry author. The project, entitled Dilate Your Heart, also enlists production and features from Mary Lattimore, Sam Gendel, Gia Margaret, and Angel Bat Dawid.
Dilate Your Heart is being released via indie record label Jagjaguwar as the first part of their 25th anniversary celebration, which will run for all of 2021. The celebration is branded as “Jag Quarterly” and will feature exclusive collaborations and works from artists like Moses Sumney, Sharon Van Etten, Perfume Genius, and many others.
In a tweet from the Jagjaguwar Twitter account, the label wrote: “Dilate your heart means: make room, let more in. New faces, new concepts, new fears, new gratitude.” They further shared that the project is five years in the making and is a “dream project we’re finally pulling down form the shelf because [Ross Gay’s] voice is necessary”.
A further statement from Jagjaguwar shared that each installment of Jag Quarterly is intended to “resurrect a different mantra from the label’s past, and imbue it with new meaning.” Along with Dilate Your Heart, the other mantras being invoked are: This is a Mindfulness Drill, Join the Ritual, and Sentimental Noise.
