Manchester Orchestra Releases Brand New Single “Bed Head” and Announces Upcoming Studio Album, The Million Masks of God
Atlanta indie rock band Manchester Orchestra has announced the release date for their upcoming studio album, The Million Masks of God. Set to be the group’s sixth studio album, it will mark their first since the release of 2017’s A Black Mile to the Surface. Along with the announcement, Manchester Orchestra also shared the album’s lead single “Bed Head” and its accompanying music video.
In an interview with Sirius XM Radio, lead singer and guitarist Andy Hull spoke on “Bed Head” and its video. “‘Bed Head’ is two old friends existing in two separate realities. It’s a conversation about the lives they lived, the consequences of life’s decisions, and finding purpose in trying to be better.”
Hull spoke further on the writing process behind The Million Masks of God. He explained its connection to lead guitarist Robert McDowell’s father’s battle with cancer. Hull said, “If Black Mile was this idea of ‘from birth to death,’ this album would really be more about ‘from birth to beyond’, focusing on the highs and lows of life and exploring what could possibly come next.” The upcoming album was produced in full by Hull and McDowell, along with additional production from Catherine Marks and Ethan Gruska. The Million Masks of God is set for release on April 30th via Loma Vista Recordings. Watch the music video for “Bed Head” below.
