Helen Ballentine, who performs under the moniker Skullcrusher, has announced the release of her second EP via Secretly Canadian. The project, entitled Storm in Summer, will be out next month and follows the release of the self-titled EP Ballentine released in July of 2020. Accompanying the announcement, Ballentine also shared a music video for the upcoming project’s title track.

“I wrote “Storm in Summer” after releasing the first Skullcrusher EP. Over that summer I thought a lot about what it means to really put myself out there and share something personal,” Ballentine said in a statement. “I felt so vulnerable and overwhelmed by the fact that these songs I had written in private were exposed and likely being misinterpreted or disliked. I think the song really tries to communicate these anxieties in a cathartic way while also leaning more into the beauty of relinquishing part of myself.”

Ballentine previously released the track Song for Nick Drake earlier in 2021, and the song will also make an appearance on the upcoming project. Storm in Summer will be available via Secretly Canadian on April 9th. Watch the music video for its title track below.
