Interview With Upcoming Artist Just Ant

Hi, Just Ant! How are you?

Yoo what’s up! No complaints at all. Just working. Staying busy and loving it. I just dropped my album “Believe Me Yet?” and the whole process/reception has been so rewarding. I’m in a really good place right now.

Where are you from?

I’m from Blackwood, NJ. It’s a smooth 20 minutes outside of Philly.

How did you get into music?

From a young age, there’s always been elements of music around me. I remember having drumstick toys. My dad brought home an acoustic guitar when I was like 5 years old or something and I remember vivid memories of just being interested. Fast forward 10 or so years, and I was that dude who freestyled drunk at parties. The day came where a friend of mine invited me to his friend’s studio and the rest is history. 11+ years of creating and recording later and I’m going harder than I ever did.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

I think the opportunity to work and collab with as many talented artists and musicians over the years as I did is my biggest achievement. But a more materialistic answer would probably be making songs with two of my favorite artists, Tory Lanez and Los. Also, opening up for Travis Scott, Rick Ross, and Fetty Wap were some pretty dope experiences. But no high matches the high I get creating with the homies.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Versatile, honest, FIRE.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I want people to learn something about me. I want someone to relate to the content and understand the journey of actually chasing something doesn’t have to be as lonely as it is.  The fact that people sometimes think and feel the way you do is comforting, even if you don’t know them.

Who inspires you the most musically?

Man, there are too many to name. I’d say Tory Lanez in regards to the versatility. Smino in regards to pushing the envelope of being unique. Ye in regards to creating an experience rather than a song. I listen to music in a way where I’m analyzing every sonic bit. And understanding the intent of things that I feel gets overlooked through a naked ear.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Weezy. He’s my goat. Give me two years, if that.

How did you come up with the album name “Believe Me Yet?”?

I think I just sat back and reflected on the past 11 years. Even after releasing my first couple of songs, I thought I was POPPING. I never lost that confidence. But as I got older I think I developed a chip on my shoulder. Especially for the amount of work that I’ve put in. I feel I’m truly deserving of what’s to come. I’m legit a one man team, everything you see and hear is me. Everything I say I’m going to do, I do. I’ve always believed me and I started to wonder if they did yet. This album encapsulated all of the emotions I deal with as a result, mixed in with my day to day experiences of just, life. Relationships, attention, fun, sadness. Everything.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

I will never stop.
