Hip-Hop and Afrobeat Artist, Producer, and A&R Simplysola is the real deal. Growing up as the son of a Pastor, Sola quickly gained a passion for not only music but serving his community. These foundational things followed him into adulthood and now he helps artists elevate and makes sure they aren’t taken advantage of by the Music Industry today. Sola joined the powerhouse team AMG (Afropolitan Media Group) as Head Of Global A&R in 2019 and since then has seen grand success.
Sola has set out to create a safe space for creatives. The constant scams in the Music Industry put a burning desire for him to have integrity in his business decisions. It’s safe to say that if you’re in the hands of Sola, you’re in good hands! He is oozing with confidence and even told us during his interview, “Give me an EP, 5 songs with 1 hit and I will take you across the world.” Bold words from him, but his success and execution backs it up. Sola started his career making Christ inspired Hip-Hop but go backlash because of his raw and uncut express of emotion, this ultimately resulted in him branching out to more secular Rap and Afrobeats. We asked him what changed after this and he said, “This allowed me to widen the scope of the artist that I worked with, It also enabled me to explore more creative forms of production, such as afrobeats.”
Sola has had good in life and has had bad in life but ultimately learned from both. In his new role he can finally set the terms and run things the way that they are supposed to be ran, he wants to provide infrastructure, support and family to his artist. Sola believes that music should be therapy and not abuse. Often times as these artists are creating music to change and heal the world, they are doing so from abusive and manipulative contracts. Sola says that such things won’t stand at AMG.
The BIG takeaway from Sola is that this is a Man that became the change he wanted to see and with this kind of integrity, determination, and consistency, it’s not far fetched to say very soon he will reach heights creators rarely reach.
