Science fiction author Christopher Laird is taking his best selling ORIGINS series to the big stage. His relatable science fiction stories have captured the hearts of many across the U.S and readers are pouring in from all genres to read his work. Laird’s work is getting the attention of the science fiction community and influential circles. With the popularity of his novels and the enigmatic character of Xona Bari, industry insiders predict he could become entertainment’s next big star. His short story, “The True Meaning Of Christmas: From The Perspective Of An Alien,” a spin-off from the ORIGINS series, has been adapted into a stage play and will air via pay per view December 11th, 2021 on live streaming site Airmeet at 7pm.
The story takes place in 1941, two weeks after the Pearl Harbor bombing. Xona Bari, an alien from a race called Mykians, and Monty Herrshoff, her human boyfriend, find themselves entangled in a predicament. Xona visits Monty from the future and has a special gift for him. Monty, a lighthearted easy going guy who is nervous around women, tells Xona to hold her gift for him until Christmas. Xona does not know what Christmas is and ask Monty what it is through a process of grueling questions. Unfortunately, Monty can’t give a valid explain of what Christmas is and Xona berates him for not knowing what his own holiday means. In this Christmas comedy, they explore what Christmas means for the both of them and figure out what to do about Monty’s special gift. The play is anticipated to be a hit with Xona Bari finally coming to life for fans of the series.
The play will be directed by Christopher Laird and produced by Volanda Harrison. The play features recording artist Isis Damil (Xona Bari) and recording artist NathanR (Monty Herrshoff). It also stars Mia Frey (Barbra Sturgent), Mariah Patterson (Cafe’ girlfriend), William Estes (Cafe Boyfriend), Jeremy Francois (Cafe Waiter), Rahim Shahid (Security Guard), Vinny Multhaupt (Geoarge Sturgent), Corey Reiter (Sam Sturgnent), Glenn Szeman (Oaris) and David Symonds (Eddie).
