Interview With Kid Gali

Hi Kid Gali! How are you?

I’m chillin, as always.

Where are you from?

Born in Kigali, currently residing in Northwest Territories, Canada.

How did you get into music?

Travelling around Canada as much as I did growing up, I had to learn both English and French early on. Music was the key to that. I was hooked on Much Music when I first laid my eyes and ears on it. Then came Trace TV when we moved to Africa for a minute. There, I realized that music has weight. We moved back to Canada and settled in Yellowknife. I started writing raps in middle school but kept them secret until later in high school when I’d freestyle on the occasional off lunchroom table beat. I started taking music seriously in college when I met more like-minded people.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

Performing at my hometown’s festival Folk on the Rocks in 2021.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Deep, Slow, Grounded.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I’m a real person. Be nice and give constructive feedback.

Who inspires you the most musically?

Quentin Miller as we both rock with deep, auto tuned voices.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Kid Cudi.

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

My mixtape TheRappy will be coming out in the near future. It’s my story, my trials and tribulations struggling with mental illness, and my experience as a lover boy in the North.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

Follow me on IG, I make anime edits and AMVs of my music which I find are pretty cool.

I don’t own the rights to any of my visual content.
