MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Vikings took down the NFC favorite San Francisco 49ers in a key 22-17 victory at U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday Night Football.
Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and “Primetime” normally don’t mesh well as the veteran QB is known to often struggle in the spotlight, but last night was a totally different story for Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings. After throwing a pick on the Vikings’ first drive of the game, Cousins was nearly flawless picking apart a 49ers defense some arguably call the best defense in the NFL without his top wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
Cousins connected with rookie wideout Jordan Addison for two touchdowns while 49ers QB Brock Purdy was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter to seal their fate. The Vikings improved to 3-4 on the year while the 49ers took a step back to 5-2.
Next week, the Vikings look to build off this game as they travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers for a noon kickoff. San Francisco travels back home to take on the Cincinnati Bengals coming off their bye.
