Momohaii | Meet the Chinese-Filipino Artist making waves from Texas

With a grand vision and nobody stopping him, momohaii (stylized lowercase) is an artist not to be missed. Hailing from Texas and now living in Los Angeles, momohaii has developed a truly unique blending of R&B and Pop inspired by his multicultural Filipino-Chinese background.

Learning to play the piano and guitar from a young age, it wasn’t until his college years before momohaii picked up making music. A devoted Swiftie and recent fan of Joji, Lauv, Audrey Nuna, and others, he fondly remembers thinking that music was something he would never be able to pursue successfully – but his recent success is telling him otherwise.

Dropping his career as a software engineer in the pursuit of music, momohaii is a huge proponent of doing what really makes you happy, even if it means giving up comfort and stability to do so. After an unexpected level of success with his first few tracks, among which notably include ‘last line’ and ‘626,’ momohaii has broken barriers into the music industry and is carving out a space for him and his music. He has just released his debut EP, ‘im momo, hi’, which in his own words, “sets a foundation for [himself] as an artist and showcases to the world [his] inspirations and influences.”

A recent Los Angeles transplant, momohaii has started a new chapter to push the boundaries of what he creates further. “Moving here has been a huge change for me and has definitely been a lot to take in,” he says, “but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being in a city with such creative and inspiring people has pushed me to perform at the level I demand for this project, and I hope that the passion and emotion that I put into this EP can be felt for an eternity.”
