Texas has been home to some of the biggest legends and current stars in the music industry today. There’s one amazing screamo trap artist by the name of SadBreed that’s carving his name into the music scene of The Lone Star state. Influenced by artists like XXXtentacion, SB has become one of the few artists to keep the genre pushing forward. Being a hidden gem with superstar potential makes him a demand to reach out for an interview, so we decided to reach out to SadBreed to learn more about him.
During our initial conversation, SadBreed told us that he wants to use his music to help bring attention to mental health awareness. “You can be sad and have a lot of bad things going on in life and still be lit and enjoy life. My lyrics are exactly what I’m thinking about and what’s going on. The sheep in wolves’ clothing. I’m a guy with a tattoo on his forehead but I’m still afraid of the dark, and bugs. I’m the exact opposite of what you would think a guy with tattoos is like.”
Where are you from?
“I was born in Gaithersburg, MD until I was 2. Next, I lived in NY, Florida, and then I moved to Texas.”
So, how did you get into music?
“At lunch in high school, I was stoned af. There’s this big scary dude and he was probably stoned too, and he asked if I wanted to do a rap battle. I never rapped before, so after he stops – I rap something obnoxious [laughs]. Then later I saw the 2016 XXL Freshman cypher and I knew if these guys could do it, then I can too.” He continued, “Ever since I was a kid I wanted to do screamo. When I was 13, or 14 my mom bought me a guitar, and then I sold it for a microphone and would just scream into it [laughs].”
What is the next release and when can we the fans expect it to drop?
“I’ll be releasing ‘F*** G**, F*** You, and F*** You’ on Friday, September 9th.”
With SadBreed being an extremely talented and energetic performer, with his raw and original dope style of screamo trap metal coming out of Texas – we are looking forward to watching him grow more into stardom as his buzz across Texas continues!
