Rap, with its fast but never-breathless lyrical rhymes, is a musical genre that allows the performer to catch and captivate the listener’s imagination. Hip-hop artist Angela Mazzanti is familiar with the concept of being captivating. As a leading female rapper, model, and influencer, she stands out among her peers, displaying her unshakeable confidence as proudly as she dons her many intricate tattoos. Currently making waves within the ocean that is the Californian rap scene, Angela Mazzanti took time out from her hectic schedule to share an insight into her creative process.
Discovered by music producer LX Xander, Angela Mazzanti released her first single, “We So Mob,” through his company Ghostcraft Music in 2018. Also featuring rapper Rick Ross, “We So Mob” debuted the impressive vocal abilities of Angela Mazzanti, who was already a bona fide influencer and model with a robust following on Instagram. An overlap between a modeling and a musical career is not unheard of before, but Angela Mazzanti is unique for her seamless transition into the scene and her bravado that sets her apart from those who have come before. So, what powers Angela’s creative process and brings her music to life? “Rap is powered by your energy; it is something you conduct like an electric current,” shares the artist. “So, my creative process entails capturing that energy, directing it at the mic, and getting it locked down. In rap, you create the greatest lyrics when you simply give yourself over to that charged energy.”
Angela Mazzanti was a saxophone player and drummer back in high school, as well as being part of a metal band. But it wasn’t until she was nineteen that she discovered her passion for rapping. After releasing “We So Mob” in 2018, she followed up that confident track with the equally exuberant musical flex, “The Greatest,” in 2019. Since then, she has steadily accumulated followers and listener numbers on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
Every artist’s creative process is unique, but Angela Mazzanti has found a way to use her rare creative ability to be more memorable than most.
